Welcome

Welcome and thank you for your interest and participation in the Rx for Change: Clinician-Assisted Tobacco Cessation program for patients with cancer. Given that tobacco impacts the outcomes of cancer treatment, it is imperative that cancer care professionals, of all disciplines, acquire effective skills for assisting patients and their family members with quitting.

This web-based program, funded by the Walther Cancer Institute Foundation, is an extension of the
Rx for Change program and is based on principles set forth in the U.S. Public Health Service Clinical Practice Guideline for Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence. The Walther Cancer Institute Foundation is an independent, private grant-making foundation committed to eliminating cancer as a cause of suffering and death through interdisciplinary and inter-institutional basic laboratory, clinical, and behavioral cancer research.

We look forward to the day when treating tobacco use and dependence is part of routine practice for all health professionals, in all practice settings.  We trust that you will find this training program to be useful in your daily practice in providing excellent care to patients with cancer.
